With the beautiful weather Mississippi has been experiencing lately, it’s only natural to be on the lookout for great outdoor locales to enjoy it. And aside from obvious choices, like state parks and hiking trails, restaurants should be on your radar. That’s right; restaurants. You see, the Magnolia State is home to some incredible lakeside (and a few riverside) eateries that are a must-visit this time of year. Here are 8 of our favorites.
Aside from exceptional views of Pickwick Lake, this waterfront grill serves up what many refer to as the "best burger in the state." Between the nautical atmosphere and fantastic fare, this eatery is a must-visit. Visit Eastport Grill at 892 County Rd. 956, Iuka.
This "funky, friendly watering hole and grill" is situated right on the Mary Walker Bayou and Pascagoula River. Arrive by car or boat to dine on steak, seafood, and Huck's "almost world famous" burgers. Visit Huck’s Cove at 3000 Oak St., Gautier.

Known as "Biloxi’s best-kept secret," this hidden gem is situated on the banks of the Tchoutacabouffa River. This secluded resort has a lot to offer, including a restaurant that overlooks a sparkling lake. Stop by the eatery, which specializes in Southern delicacies, and you can fill up on all your home-cooked favorites. Visit Lake Tiak-O’khata at 1290 Smyth Lake Rd., Louisville.
Situated on the banks of Officers Lake and featuring plenty of outdoor seating, it’s no wonder this decades-old eatery was named the state’s "best outdoor dining" spot by Mississippi Magazine. Visit Proffitt’s Porch at 1587 Officers Lake Rd., Columbus.
At this "vacation paradise," you’ll find cozy accommodations, a tranquil lake, and a waterfront eatery where great views are always on the menu. Open for dinner on Friday and Saturday, the rustic restaurant serves up a classic fish house fare that’s sure to hit the spot.
