When it comes to finding the perfect summertime activity, most people stick to the obvious options, like state parks, beaches and water parks. And while these options are great, Mississippi has so much more to offer. From annual festivals to seasonal events, here are 10 unique things you absolutely must do in Mississippi this summer.
1. Have some fun at the Crystal Springs Tomato Festival.
Crystal Springs was once known as the "Tomatopolis of the World," so it should come as no surprise that the city hosts an annual festival to celebrate all things tomato. Held the last Saturday in June, the festival includes everything from farmers and flea markets to live entertainment and a tomato museum.

Guests are taken on trips through time (30 minute tours) where they encounter these living history characters and learn about their stories. For more information call 601-636-0741.
3. Celebrate the king at Tupelo’s Elvis Festival.
This annual celebration includes performances by regional, national, and local artists, a Sunday Gospel Concert, and a Tribute Artist Contest, which leads to the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest. The fun doesn’t end with great music; the festival also includes several food vendors, carnival rides, a pet parade, a beauty pageant, a 5k run, disc golf, exhibits, and more.
