Finding a great hole-in-the-wall restaurant is like discovering a hidden treasure. So, finding one that serves some of the best steak in the country is like hitting the jackpot. And that’s where Doe’s Eat Place comes in. Despite its location in a small town in an unassuming building, the award-winning restaurant has garnered national recognition for its juicy steaks. Practically guaranteed to be among the best (and biggest) steak you’ve ever sunk your teeth into, a visit to Doe’s Eat Place is a must for any steak-lover. Take a look:
Opened in 1941, Doe’s Eat Place has a history as "rich and flavorful" as their steaks.
The now famous restaurant was opened by Dominick "Doe" Signa and his wife Mamie as a honky tonk. A popular spot at the time, Doe’s served things likes buffalo fish and chili.
Initially, it was the tamales that attracted customers to Doe’s.
Eventually, Mamie was given a partial recipe for tamales. She improved the recipe and began selling tamales, which is considered the start of the restaurant.

However as time went on, Doe’s became known for another specialty – its steaks.
It all began with a local doctor who had a hankering for a steak. According to Doe’s website, the doctor would stop by in between calls and "Big Doe would cook him up a steak and feed him in the back. Pretty soon the doctor brought another doctor then a lawyer and before he knew it Doe had a regular restaurant in the back."

Over the years, Doe’s has won numerous awards for its steaks.
Aside from being named "No. 1 of the 100 Best Things to Eat in America" by Men’s Journal, Doe’s was listed in Bon Apetit’s "Best Picks for American Eats" and the Travel Channel’s "Steak Paradise 3 Travel Guide."
In addition to tasting great, the steaks are HUGE!
You won’t find any white linens or fancy décor at Doe’s. And unlike most restaurants, guests at Doe’s enter through the kitchen - something that’s been done since it first opened.
...but you can expect some of the best, and probably biggest, steak you’ve ever tasted.
