With Mississippi becoming more and more appealing to movie producers, spotting some familiar locales on the big screen is actually a possibility. From “the film capital of the state” to a well-known Jackson eatery, these 11 places in Mississippi have made cameos in some of Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters.
Based on the book of the same name, "The Help" was filmed throughout the state with several scenes being filmed in Jackson’s Mayflower Café.
You probably noticed the well-known reservoir served as the backdrop for a portion of "Mississippi Burning."

Located on the Strong River, this waterpark was featured in "O Brother, Where Art Thou."

The Natchez eatery was featured in the James Brown biopic, "Get on Up."
As one of the nation’s oldest cemeteries, Cedar Hill has a lot of history, and that includes a history in film. The cemetery was actually the site of James Chaney’s funeral in "Mississippi Burning."

Known as the "the film capital of Mississippi," it should come as no surprise that numerous movies have been made in Canton. That long list of movies includes John Grisham’s novel-turned-movie "A Time to Kill," which was filmed entirely in Canton, as well as "My Dog Skip," which was based on author Willie Morris’ childhood memoirs.
The 2012 action packed war flick, "Act of Valor," was filmed at Mississippi’s John C. Stennis Space Center.

The nostalgic feel of this old-fashioned soda shop made it another perfect filming location for "The Help."
The well-known mansion can be found in 2014’s "Get on Up."
While scenes for "The Help" were shot in several cities throughout the state, a majority of the movie was filmed in the rural city of Greenwood. The filming in the city mostly took place around Baptist Town, at local plantations and antebellum homes.
