We recently told you about the boating adventure you can take aboard the Betsy Ann Riverboat. But that’s not the only boat ride that belongs on your summer bucket list. That’s right; there’s another, which has actually been dubbed the “the most interesting tour boat on the coast!” In addition to getting you out on the water, the one-of-a-kind day cruise exposes you to the spectacular world of sea life like no other! Take a look:
Since 1954, the Biloxi Cruise Company has been entertaining visitors from around the world with their on-the-water excursions.
Though the company offers several cruises, the Biloxi Shrimping Trip is by far one of the most popular. Departing three times a day during the summer season, the "living marine adventure cruise" takes place aboard the Sailfish.
The double decker boat has plenty of seating, so you’ll be nice and comfy. There’s also an open-air upper deck, which provides great views of the stunning surroundings as the boat navigates the waters between Deer Island and the Biloxi shoreline.
But great scenery isn’t all you’ll be treated to aboard the Sailfish. As soon as the boat leaves the harbor, a net is lowered into the water to catch "any and all sea creatures in its path."
The entire catch is then hoisted aboard and identified by the captain. While the captain provides information on the catch, passengers can examine it for themselves.
Shrimp, blue crabs, flounder, stingray, squids, and puffer fish are usually among the sea life brought aboard, but you never actually know what will be pulled from the water.
The sea creatures caught in the net aren't the only ones you'll get to view close-up, though. Dolphins are a pretty common sight, so don't forget your camera!
Prices vary depending on age. Tickets are $16 for adults (ages 12 and up), $11 for children 4 – 11, and FREE for children 3 and under (with full paid adult).
The Biloxi Cruise Company is located at 693 Beach Blvd., Biloxi, MS 39530. For more information, call (228) 392-8645 or visit the company’s website or Facebook page.
