After Laura Kelly’s death in the late 1800’s, her husband was so distraught that he commissioned a statue to be built in her memory. Hiring a world-renowned sculptor, Mr. Kelly wanted the statue to look exactly as his wife did – so much so that he even sent the sculptor some of her clothes so the statue would be as realistic as possible. Additionally, the grieving husband had a third story added to his home just so he could view the statue of his beloved wife. Several visitors to this Kosciusko cemetery have claimed that at times the statue of Laura Kelly appears to be weeping.

Located at this Madison County cemetery, the grave of Henry Grey Vick has quite an interesting story. Just days before Henry was to marry Helen Johnstone, he was killed in a duel. Losing the love of her life so suddenly, Helen was heartbroken, so much so, that she reportedly wore her wedding dress to Henry’s funeral. There have been numerous reports that Helen’s ghost, still in her wedding dress, visits Henry’s grave quite frequently – often times sitting in the bench shown in the background of this photo.

This cemetery is the final resting places for almost 100 Confederate soldiers and, as such, there have been a lot of reports of unusual happenings. Visitors have reported seeing ghosts of soldiers, smelling gun powder and hearing battle sounds.

Set back a bit in the woods, this small Ocean Springs cemetery is easy to miss. Those entering the cemetery must pass through a gate, which several have reported forcibly closing on them while trying to exit. It has also been reported that a lady in white is present and often times gets way too close for comfort.

Located in Picayune, this cemetery is reportedly haunted by a woman in a white wedding gown. Many have reported seeing her run toward them with her arms open. The picture shown is one that I personally took, and while I didn’t see the woman in white, there are several orbs in the picture…and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a bit uneasy when I was there.

Since this cemetery holds the remains of tens of thousands Civil War soldiers it should come as no surprise that eerie happenings have been reported. Visitors claim to have seen the ghosts of soldiers battling during the early morning hours as well as hearing gunshots.
