You may not think of a bridge as a must-visit destination, but there is one in Mississippi that’s worthy of a visit – the Byram Swinging Bridge. There are several things that make the centuries-old bridge special, but the sweetest is definitely the fact that it’s covered in “love locks.” Take a look:
Built in 1905, the Byram Swinging Bridge spans the Pearl River. It’s located in the small town of Byram, near Jackson.
The bridge, which is suspended by steel cables, was once open to traffic and actually swayed when cars went over it. (Hence the name "Swinging Bridge.")
Luckily, the town’s mayor is completely supportive of the sweet tradition. Plus, he’s checked with engineers and confirmed the bridge can "hold thousands" of locks.
