A small town bakery that’s nationally known seems unlikely, but Sugaree’s Bakery in New Albany proves that it is possible. The bakeshop churns out all sorts of sweets, but it’s the layer cakes the customers can’t seem to get enough of. They’re so good, in fact, the bakery ships them all over the country. Take a look:
Sugaree’s Bakery is located in downtown New Albany. It shouldn’t be hard to miss; just keep your eyes peeled for the sign…and a line of people waiting outside.
The bakery has come a long way from its humble beginnings as a home-based bakeshop. In 1997, Sugaree’s Bakery officially opened and began churning out a variety of sweets, including its now-famous layer cakes.
But it’s no mistake that the cakes are such a hit. Since opening, the small-batch bakery "has been focusing on depth of flavor with its classic southern layer cakes."
And the bakery has definitely succeeded. Ask anyone who’s tried the cake, and they’ll tell you they’re some of the "richest, moistest homemade cakes available."
It’s not just customers that praise the cakes, though. Over the years Sugaree’s Bakery has appeared in a variety of publications, including Oprah Magazine, Southern Living, and New York Times.
Sure to satisfy any sweet tooth, the cakes come in a variety of flavors. Not sure which to choose? The caramel, strawberry, and rainbow cake are among the most popular.
In addition to choosing a flavor, you can choose to order either a whole or half cake. Of course, you’ll probably regret it if you don’t get the whole.
