The one perk of having the days shortened is that you’ll have plenty of time to check out holiday lights, sip hot chocolate, and sing your favorite Christmas tunes. Be sure to check out some of these Christmas towns in Mississippi this year, they really go all out for the holiday season!
1. Vicksburg

Christmastime in Vicksburg. From late November until the end of December, Christmas in the Park takes over the downtown scene with plenty of shimmering lights, trolley rides, and Santa sightings.

Capital City Lights returns on December 1, 2023, at 4 p.m. for one of the best Christmas events in Mississippi. There will be plenty of holiday shopping, twinkling lights, food trucks, and activities for kids to enjoy.

Christmas in Natchez is a month-long celebration that kicks off with the annual tree lighting on Main Street on November 25, 2023 and continues throughout the month with plenty of magical lights in Memorial Park, caroling, carnival rides, and more. Don’t miss the annual Lighting Up The Square which takes place on Sunday, November 19 from 6 p.m. til 8 p.m. where you can witness the magical tree lighting. Santa himself will even be making an appearance!
7. Laurel
Laurel is home to one of the most popular Christmas events in Mississippi: the Christmas parade! It’s the largest Christmas parade in Mississippi, drawing thousands of visitors every year. It takes place on the first Saturday of December, so mark your calendars and come out to enjoy the day, then stroll through downtown and admire all of the cheerful window displays. In the evening, check out the Christmas lights at Mason Park.
