Mississippi gas stations are synonymous with great food. In fact, you’ll find some of the state’s best fried chicken at a gas station restaurant. Officially known as King Chicken Fillin’ Station, the market-based eatery has only been open a few years, but has already gained national recognition for its tasty fare, especially the fried chicken. Take a look:
Back in 2018, Lee County’s longest running convenience store took on a new identity as King Chicken Fillin’ Station.
Now, in addition to being one of the county’s oldest businesses, it’s known for its fried chicken, which according to Food Network is the best in all of Mississippi.
But Food Network’s ranking isn’t the first time the chicken was recognized. It was also voted as one of the best places for fried chicken in Mississippi Magazine. And that’s in addition to being mentioned in an article by Forbes.
So, what makes it so good? Well, it can be partly attributed to the cooking process, which involves a salt and sugar brine and the use of special seasonings in the breading as well as on the chicken.
You can also get the chicken finished off in your choice of sauce or dry rub — all of which is made in-house. If you’re craving something extra spicy, go with the signature Cashville sauce.
King Chicken Fillin’ Station is open 7 days a week. For more information, call (662) 260-4417. You can also visit the eatery’s website or Facebook page.
