It’s no secret that Mississippi is filled with great food and friendly residents. Even better, you can usually find both in the same place, which is exactly the case with the Dinner Bell. The local favorite has been serving up authentic southern cuisine for years. And while the food is amazing, it’s not the only thing that sets the Dinner Bell apart from other restaurants; it’s the way the food is served that really makes for one memorable dining experience.
The Dinner Bell is located on 5th Avenue in McComb’s downtown Depot District in a former home that dates back to the 1920s.
Over the years, The Dinner Bell has become a favorite of both locals and tourists, attracting visitors from every state, Canada, Mexico, and almost every continent. So, just what is it about The Dinner Bell that diners can’t get enough of?
Meals at The Dinner Bell are served family-style on large lazy Susans in the middle of round tables, making it one of the only restaurants of its kind in Mississippi.
Heaping helpings of fried chicken, fried eggplant, chicken and dumplings, rice and gravy, vegetables, and homemade cornbread are always on the menu (and within hands reach).
Further adding to the unique dining experience, customers are seated with friends and strangers alike, encouraging the southern hospitality Mississippians are known for.
If you really want to experience all The Dinner Bell has to offer, visit on a Sunday when the fare is even more plentiful than usual and includes a variety of desserts.
