An eye-catching sight to say the least, the Hindu Temple of Mississippi is huge. But that’s not the only thing you’ll notice about it. There’s also its unique look – and that’s no coincidence. It was specifically designed to replicate the temples in India. An architectural masterpiece, this temple is sure to impress. Take a look:
The Hindu Temple of Mississippi is located on Vernon Jones Avenue in Brandon.
Modeled after the Hindu temples that fill India, the Hindu Temple of Mississippi is the only temple of its kind in Mississippi as well as the surrounding states of Arkansas, Louisiana, and Alabama.
Aiming for optimum authenticity, all of the complex craftsmanship was completed by talented artisans, who came to Mississippi from India specifically to work on the temple.
Even if you’re not Hindu, you can still appreciate the beauty of the temple with a visit. The temple holds a variety of celebrations throughout the year that are open to the public.
Of course, you can simply visit when the temple is open. However, there is one rule. Prior to stepping inside, all visitors must remove their shoes, which is customary in Hindu temples.
