If you can get your timing right, spending a few days enjoying the best fall hiking trails in Mississippi is one of the most rewards parts of the season. While Tishomingo may get all the glory, there’s one beautiful hiking trail in a different state park that’s just as scenic during the fall, and this is one hike the entire family can enjoy–even the dog!
Sitting pretty on 750 acres in Marshall County, Wall Doxey State Park is a hidden gem for leaf peepers hoping to enjoy Mississippi’s beautiful fall foliage.
This is actually one of the first state parks ever established in Mississippi and dates back to 1935. It was originally called Spring Lake before being renamed in 1956 to honor the local politician, Wall Doxey, who served in the House of Representatives from 1929-1941 and the Senate from 1941-1943.
Whether you're spending a few nights camping here or just visiting for a day, the two-mile trail is one of the best fall hiking trails in Mississippi.
The park offers plenty of camping opportunities, including RV slots, tent sites, and cabins. You can even rent an RV through our friends at RVShare to see if it's a lifestyle you could see yourself living!
