The lodge features a covered walkway and gazebo and is surrounded by a beautiful garden.

Directly behind Tara Lodge, you’ll find a pier, perfect for taking in the breathtaking surroundings.

There’s also another lodge on the property, Halpino Lodge.

The secluded 6-bedroom lodge can accommodate up to 13 guests.

And includes a spacious deck that offers excellent views of the “Duck Puddle” and the area’s wildlife.

With several lakes on the property, fishing is a popular past time at Tara. Fishing poles are even available at the main lodge for guests who don’t have their own.

The lakes are also perfect for canoeing and kayaking, and with both guided and self-guided options, there’s something for everyone.

There are several nature and hiking trails at Tara, which are rated easy to moderate and range from 2.4 miles to 3.8 miles (round trip).

Another great way to explore Tara is by taking a tour on the Open Air Wildlife Watching Bus.

After working up an appetite, guests can grab a bite to eat at Tara Lodge, where buffet-style meals full of southern favorites are served three times a day.

A stunning sunset, which can be observed from just about anywhere on the property, is a great way to end the day at Tara.

Or if you’re visiting during the cooler months, a lakeside bonfire is also a great choice.
