If you’ve got a sweet tooth that needs satisfying, you can’t go wrong with a visit to Campbell’s Bakery. As one of Mississippi’s oldest bakeshops, it’s got quite the reputation, and for good reason. The legendary bakery boasts a vast sugary selection. What’s more, it’s all made fresh, from scratch daily, using recipes that date back decades. Take a look:
Campbell’s Bakery has been a fixture in Jackson’s Fondren neighborhood since 1962, making it the city’s oldest bakery.
Being in business for decades is an incredible feat for any business, but is especially impressive in the case of Campbell’s Bakery, which doesn’t do any paid advertising.
Throughout the years, the bakeshop has received numerous awards, including Best Bakery, Best Place to Buy a Cake, and a slew of others, which are proudly displayed on the walls of the bakery.
The capital city staple prides itself on its old-fashioned ways, including the fact that orders and inquiries can only be made in person or over the phone – no e-mails or texts.
Selling like hot cakes, the bakery typically sells out of the 20 – 50 dozen teacakes it whips up each day. The same goes for the petit fours, of which, the bakery makes 5 – 10 dozen per day.
And just like the teacakes and petit fours, everything – and we mean everything from the batter and icing to the caramel and decorations – is made from scratch.
Campbell’s Bakery is open Monday – Saturday. For more information on the Jackson locale, call (601) 362-4628. To reach the Madison location, call (769) 300-2790. You can also visit the Campbell’s Bakery website or Facebook page.
