The pandemic has lots of people feeling blue, but don’t fret. We found a place that’s sure to turn those frowns upside down – and that place is Coastal Ridge Farm. A true hidden gem, the farm is tucked away in a small town. However, this is one gem you’ll want to seek out because Coastal Ridge Farm boasts 10,000 sunflowers. What’s more, you can visit the farm and pick sunflowers to take home with you. Take a look:
In the small town of Picayune, you’ll find one of the most enchanting places in Mississippi - Coastal Ridge Farm.
During the u-pick season, the farm opens daily (weather permitting), at 9:30 a.m. No visitors will be admitted after 6:30 p.m. and all visitors must exit the farm by 7:15 p.m.
A general admission ticket to the u-pick field is $12 when purchased in advance and $15 at the gate. Keep in mind, you can only pay with cash at the gate.
Though open for years, Coastal Ridge Farm is implementing a few new policies for the 2020 u-pick season. First, the farm is no longer loaning buckets and pruners, so you’ll have to bring your own.
Second, tickets now have a 2.5-hour time frame for admission – this, combined with the fact that the farm is limiting the number of tickets sold, ensures plenty of open space for social distancing.
There are a few other things to keep in mind when visiting Coastal Ridge Farm, one of which is proper footwear. While at the farm, you’ll be doing plenty of walking on rough terrain, so closed-toe shoes are a must.
The u-pick fields are open seasonally, May – June and September – October. However, the weather and the amount of flowers can affect whether or not Coastal Ridge Farm is open, so it’s recommended that you call or check the farm’s website or Facebook page prior to your visit. For more information, call (601) 918-3770. You can also visit the Coastal Ridge Farm website or Facebook page.
This isn’t the only sunflower field in the state. Read about others here.
