There are lots of gas stations that sell pizza. There are NOT lots of gas stations that sell pizza as good as the pies at Mercury Pizza Co. Proof that culinary gems can be found in the most unconventional locations, the gas station pizzeria serves up real brick oven pizza, which has been voted some of the state’s best.
Talk about hiding in plain sight! Mercury Pizza Co. is located right off Highway 98 in Hattiesburg, but because it shares a building with a gas station, it’s pretty inconspicuous.
Living up to its reputation, Mercury Pizza Co. whips up delicious pies, using quality ingredients and a traditional Italian brick fire oven – just like they did in Naples in the 16th century.
But the cooking method isn’t the only authentic thing about the pizza. There’s also the dough, which is made in-house daily, using specialty flour imported from Italy.
The menu features a mix of pizzas inspired by both pizza classics as well as Southern cuisine – and if you don’t see a pie you like, you can create your own.
Ready to sink your teeth into these brick oven pies? For more information, call Mercury Pizza Co. at (601) 336-8302. You can also visit the Mercury Pizza Co. website. And remember to check out the Mercury Pizza Co. Facebook, where you’ll find info on menu items, hours, specials, and more.
So, did you know about this pizzeria in Mississippi? Ever visited? If so, what’d you think of the pies? Know of another pizza place with great pies? Tell us!
