Now a popular restaurant with locations scattered throughout the south, Doe’s Eat Place has garnered a reputation for serving up some of the best steak in the nation, and it all began in Greenville, Mississippi.
Head to 502 Nelson Street in Greenville and you’ll come across Doe’s Eat Place. The unassuming building may not look like much on the outside, but inside you’ll find delicious food and more southern hospitality than you can handle.
Since opening, the Greenville eatery has been drawing in crowds of hungry diners, and while many things have changed throughout the years, one thing has remained the same – Doe’s knows good steak.
Can’t make up your mind? Go with the restaurant’s specialty, the porterhouse, which has been the recipient of several prestigious awards, such as the James Beard Award.
Additionally, it has been recognized in countless publications and listings, including landing spots on Bon Apetit Magazine’s "Best Picks for American Eats" and the Travel Channel’s "Steak Paradise 3 Travel Guide." The succulent steak also took the #1 spot in the Men’s Journal ranking, "100 Best Things to Eat in America."
The mouthwatering goodness doesn’t end with the juicy steak, either. There’s also delicious shrimp, salad with Doe’s signature dressing, and hot tamales that are made just the way they were when the restaurant originally opened in 1941.
