Hiking is the best way to immerse yourself in Mississippi’s natural beauty. Our state has an abundance of hiking trails for people of all abilities, and this one is easy enough for just about everyone.
The Cypress Swamp Trail is located on the Natchez Trace Parkway. You'll find it at milepost 122, north of Jackson.
This pretty little trail is less than a half mile long, and it's a flat, easy hike. It's perfect for almost every level of hiker, and great for even small children.
These hardy trees took root back before water covered this land; they thrive in the boggy conditions here now. Watch for the occasional alligator hanging out on a log.
Bring your camera - this place is very picturesque. During summer months, you'll need bug spray because the mosquitoes are thick, but during the winter bugs are less worrisome.
