Enjoy learning about the Civil War? Are you a self-proclaimed history buff? If you answered yes to one (or both) of these questions, then you’ve got to book a stay at The Generals’ Quarters Inn. Not only is the inn Civil War-themed, it’s located in the heart of Corinth – a town that played a huge role in the war. Take a look:
Located near the state’s northern border, Corinth is home to about 15,000 people and a charming downtown full of restaurants, boutiques, shops, museums, and galleries.
The charming inn, which is housed in a home that dates back to 1872, is surrounded by verandas and lovely gardens. Even better, it’s within walking distance of Corinth’s downtown.
Each of the inn’s guest rooms and suites bear the names of prominent figures from the Civil War. Albert Sidney Johnston, Nathan Bedford Forrest, and P.G.T. Beauregard are just a few of the names history buffs might recognize.
In addition to antiques and period furnishings, the rooms feature pictures of the person they’re named after, making for a one-of-a-kind history lesson.
The inn may be Civil War-themed but modern-day amenities aren’t lacking. In-room TVs, WiFi, and complimentary breakfasts are just a few things guests can look forward to.
Though the Generals’ Quarters Inn is a great start, it’s not the only place to get your Civil War fix in Corinth. The town is home to several Civil War-related sites, including the Civil War Interpretive Center.
There’s also the Crossroads Museum. In addition to Civil War-related items, it includes railroad exhibits as well as thousands of artifacts detailing the city’s rich history in both cultural and industrial pursuits.
The Generals’ Quarters Inn is located at 924 N Fillmore St., Corinth, MS 38834. For more information, or to make reservations, call (662) 286-3325. You can also visit the inn’s website.
This isn’t the only historic inn that promises a unique stay. Click here to read about another.
