Though Daniella was born in New York and has lived in a couple of other states, Mississippi has been her home for more than 30 years. After graduating from the University of Southern Mississippi, Daniella began to hone her writing skills through various internships. In the years since, she’s had the privilege of having her articles appear in several publications, such as the Mississippi-based Parents & Kids Magazine. She’s also had the honor of interviewing actress Sela Ward for The Mississippi Arts and Entertainment Experience.
The list of must-visit Mississippi attractions just got a bit longer, and that’s because a new children’s museum has opened. Officially dubbed the Mississippi Children’s Museum-Meridian (MCM-Meridian), the state-of-the-art facility encompasses 25,000 square feet and is brimming with exhibits and activities that are fun and engaging for kids…and kids at heart.
Opened on March 27, 2021, MCM-Meridian is the state’s newest (and most anticipated) attraction.
And it looks like the wait was well worth it, as the first-class museum is brimming with exhibits that’ll spark creativity, imagination, discovery, and learning.
In addition to interactive exhibits, the 25,000-square-foot museum features a 2-story library, which may look familiar since it was inspired by the book, “The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore.”
The perfect mix of recreation and education, the outdoor play area features a variety of activities centered around educational initiatives, like health, nutrition, literacy, the arts, and more.
In addition to daily admission, the museum offers annual memberships, traveling exhibits and programs, facility rentals for birthday parties, and seasonal camps.
For more information, call the museum at (601) 512-0278 or email: meridian@mcm.ms. Additionally, you can visit the museum’s website or Facebook page.
So, did you about Mississippi’s newest museum? Already visited? If so, what’d you think?
