Some days are just made for pushing yourself. This gorgeous hike in Mississippi isn’t too difficult for beginners, but it still offers a bit of satisfying challenge that will make you breathless in the best way possible. Here’s what you need to know about hiking the CCC Camp Loop Trail.
The CCC Camp Loop Trail is located in Tishomingo State Park, near Dennis. It’s a challenging hike that offers some pretty sweet rewards.
The trail itself is about 3.6 miles and loops back to its starting point, so you don’t have to worry about retracing your steps. However, it’s definitely not for the unprepared.
The terrain is rocky and you’ll be required to climb steps, navigate your way around boulders, and skirt crevices. Along the way, you’ll be treated to the sight of large ferns and a rolling river.
One of the coolest parts of the trail is Swinging Bridge, which crosses Bear Creek. Be ready for a bit of swaying underfoot as you cross to the other side.
Though novice hikers can definitely enjoy this trial, it is rated as “moderate.” This means you need to wear sturdy shoes, pack plenty of water, and be mindful of where you step.
