Small town Mississippi is full of hidden gems, and the A.F. Carraway Store is one of them. The centuries-old general store boasts tons of historical charm and nostalgia – but that’s not all. There’s also a great variety of merchandise, which is the perfect mix of old and new. Take a look:
The epitome of a small town, you won’t find much in Bassfield, which is located in Jefferson Davis County. However, you will find the A.F. Carraway Store, a general store that’s as charming as it is historic.
Though many things have changed at the store over the years, many have remained the same, like the cash register, which is still the original. Also, the store still has many of its original furnishings.
Hoop cheese, bacon, and Roundhouse overalls are among the store’s biggest sellers. Interestingly enough, the A.F. Carraway Store is the only local vendor of Roundhouse.
A.F. Carraway Store is open Monday – Saturday, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. For more information, call (601) 943-5551. You can also visit the store’s Facebook page.
This isn’t the state’s only historic general store. Read about another, which also serves as a great restaurant, here.
