If you’ve ever tried to go for a stroll in rural Mississippi then you know what I’m talking about. You can’t go more than a couple of steps without someone pulling over and asking if you need a ride. This is truly an amazing problem to have!

We Mississippians may be known for our hospitality, but that doesn’t mean we’re pushovers. The best part is, we sound nice even when that’s not the intention. And "bless your heart" is a prime example of this talent.

However, no matter how entertaining that movie was, the statement just isn’t true. Sure, the real version would be better, but when you’re in a bind, instant grits will do just fine.

There are a lot of untrue stereotypes out there about Mississippi. And then there’s this one. Let’s be honest, how many times have you mentioned someone and heard, "That’s my cousin." And that's okay; it's just a reminder of how lucky we are to be so close to our families.
