Don’t Drive Down These 8 Haunted Roads In Mississippi Or You’ll Regret It

The ghost of Hal, a former shipyard employee, is said to haunt a lonely stretch of this highway near Gautier. Hal’s family lived in New Orleans, and, on a rainy Friday night, had made plans to meet Hal at a Gautier motel. What Hal’s family didn’t know was that the welder was laid off of work earlier that day. Not long after the entire family retired for the night, Hal did the unthinkable – he used an axe to murder his wife and five children as well as several other motel guests. After completing his heinous act, Hal wandered aimlessly down the highway at which point he was ran over and killed. To this day, witnesses say that Hal can still be seen wandering down the highway.

The old two-story home that sits at 387 Old Corinth Rd. is said to be haunted by a family who once lived there. It has been reported that several of the older family members can be seen roaming the property and, in turn, causing people who are driving past the home to wreck their vehicles.

The tale of Columbus’ ghost has been around for quite some time, and while there are several variations of this local urban legend, they all include the ghost of a three-legged lady. One version includes the kidnapping and murder of a young girl, possibly by a satanic cult. Supposedly, the girl’s body was dismembered and her body parts were strewn about the woods. According to legend the ghost of both the three-legged lady and her mother can be seen on Nash Road.

After being killed in a train accident on his way home from war, a young soldier’s wife was so devastated that she chose to take her own life - by standing on the tracks on Armstrong Road and allowing a train to hit her. As of today, witnesses report that if you stop on these tracks and honk your horn three times, you will be able to see a lantern floating above the tracks, which is believed to be held by the woman’s ghost while still searching for her husband.

While some believe the haunting of this road is the direct result of sacrifices made by a satanic cult, others think it has to do with a local devil-worshipping farmer who sold his soul to the devil and was, in turn, transformed into a demonic creature known as Goat Man. Witnesses have reported all kinds of strange happenings, such as car engines turning off by themselves, a feeling of being watched, the appearance of shadowy figures, vehicles being shook, and handprints appearing on the vehicle. Other witnesses have actually had run-ins with Goat Man. The seven-foot tall figure with glowing eyes is said to carry a pitch fork, and is known to suddenly appear in front of stopped cars and stare at the occupants.

Several car accidents have occurred in almost the exact location on this road, with most survivors reporting the same series of events. Every driver claimed to stop their vehicles due to what appeared to be blood on the road. After investigating the unusual sight and returning to their vehicles, witnesses claim that headlights would suddenly appear out of nowhere and that a dark colored van would crash into their stopped vehicles before disappearing back into the darkness.

Several eerie instances have supposedly taken place on this road, especially when there is a full moon. Some claim that ghosts will run out in front of your car, while others claim to have seen a woman, drenched in blood, travelling on this dark road at night.

Legend has it that a man by the name of Stuckey ran a local inn and just so happened to be in the habit of robbing and murdering his guests. After killing several customers, Stuckey was finally caught and hanged from this bridge. Visitors to the area have reported seeing the ghost of Stuckey roaming the riverbank with a lantern in hand while other have reported seeing his ghost hanging from the bridge.
