11 Things People Who Live In Mississippi Are Tired Of Hearing From Out-of-Towners
Nicknamed the Hospitality State, it’s pretty safe to assume that nobody is friendlier than Mississippi residents. However, there are a few things out-of-towners can say to really get under our skin; here are 11 of the most common (and worst) offenders.

This question is so ridiculous it shouldn’t even be justified with an answer.

Another ridiculous question. Why do out-of-towners assume all Mississippians live on farms?

Yes, that’s right; we call them buggies. They're not shopping carts or trolleys. They're buggies.

Hey, Deep South cuisine may not be on par with today’s diet trends but there’s no need to be rude about it. And since we Mississippians are known for our hospitality, consider returning the favor and keeping this remark to yourself.

Ummm…do the names Tennessee Williams and William Faulkner mean anything to you? And these are just two of the literary legends that hail from the Magnolia State. Aside from producing some of the nation’s best writers, Mississippi has several colleges with reputable programs in business, medicine, and the sciences. Furthermore, The University of Mississippi Medical Center was the first to perform a human lung transplant AND the first heart transplant. What other state can say that?

Of course; you can’t have biscuits without gravy. And anyone who says otherwise clearly isn’t from Mississippi.

If you think there’s nothing to do in Mississippi, then you don’t know the Magnolia State. Museums, antebellum homes, beaches, state parks, hiking trails, great restaurants, and charming small towns are just a few of the things you’ll find to keep you entertained.
