From the state’s northern border to the Gulf Coast, there seems to be no shortage of smoky barbecue. Oftentimes, the best barbecue eateries are the ones that don’t look like much from the outside. Despite its remote location and lack of indoor seating, this Grenada eatery is always packed – and that says a lot. The menu is loaded with barbecue favorites, including mouthwatering ribs and pulled pork, along with homemade sides, such as potato salad, corn-on-the-cob, and Cole slaw.
Considered some of the best barbecue in the state, Pig Out Inn specializes in slow-smoked meats, which are cooked for a minimum of 16 hours on a custom built pit that never goes out. Prior to cooking, all of the meat is seasoned with a special rub and served with the restaurant’s signature barbecue sauce, which is said to be the perfect balance of sweet and tangy.
3. Jim Neely’s Interstate Barbecue (150 Stateline Rd. W., Southaven)
Looking for plentiful portions of mouthwatering barbecue? Then you’ll definitely want to pay a visit to Jim Neely’s Interstate Barbecue. Not only a local favorite, the Southaven eatery has won several awards and honors for its barbecue and has even been featured in renowned publications, including People, Vogue, and USA Today.
If it’s "frills" you’re after, you won’t find them at this Jackson gem, but if it’s delicious barbeque you’re craving, this is definitely the place for you. Located on Bailey Avenue, the eatery’s premium smoked ribs, tips, and hot links have been a local favorite for nearly 30 years, and after one bite, you’ll quickly understand why.

5. Leatha’s Bar-B-Que Inn (6374 US Hwy 98, Hattiesburg)
Proof that you can’t judge a book by its cover, this unassuming eatery is home to some of the best barbecue in the state. Opened since 1976, Leatha’s has been the recipient of a variety of awards as well as featured on several television shows and in numerous publications.
6. The Little Dooey (100 Fellowship St., Starkville)
Located inside a modest brick building, this Starkville favorite is known for its delicious slow-cooked barbecue. The flavor of the food is further enhanced by the restaurant’s variety of signature sauces. And it’s not only locals that love Little Dooey’s – the eatery has been featured on the Food Network.
7. Betty Davis Grocery (3359 Old Oxford Rd., Waterford)
The fact that residents of the food-centric city of Oxford head to Betty Davis Grocery when craving barbecue speaks volumes. A bit off the beaten path, the roadside barbecue joint features a menu brimming with smoky goodness, but the mouthwatering ribs are definitely a customer favorite.

And according to customers, the mouthwatering food is only outshined by the extremely generous portions and beyond reasonable prices.
11. Slap Ya Momma’s BBQ (1830 Beach Blvd., Biloxi)
