1. Winona
What this small town lacks in size, it definitely makes up for in fun – and that’s because it’s home to Old Mountain Adventure Park. In addition to a variety of obstacle courses, hiking trails, and other activities, the park includes an aerial net obstacle course, which is only the 2nd of its kind in the US! The Tracks restaurant is another must-visit in Winona. The train-themed eatery features a fare that includes everything from salads and wraps to gourmet burgers and hot plate specials – most of which is well under $10.
2. Philadelphia
Located in Neshoba County, Philadelphia is home to one of the state’s oldest general stores – Williams Brothers. The charming shop, which has been in business since 1907, sells everything from groceries to boots. To really experience all Philadelphia has to offer, consider visiting during the summer when the town hosts the Neshoba County Fair. The annual event, which is known as "Mississippi’s Giant House Party," attracts thousands of people from all across the country.
3. Pelahatchie
A small town that should definitely be on your radar, Pelahatchie is home to Yogi on the Lake. The family oriented attraction includes a campground and cabins, water park, restaurant, and miniature golf course – all of which is centered around a gorgeous lake.
4. Flora
Head to this small town, and you’ll find about 2,000 residents, the only Petrified Forest in the eastern US, and a train-depot-turned-museum that’s listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
5. Crystal Springs
In terms of small towns, it doesn’t get much better than Crystal Springs. Once nicknamed the "Tomatopolis of the World," the charming town hosts an annual Tomato Festival, which attracts visitors from near and far. When not getting ready for the annual event, residents of the small town can celebrate the state’s musical heritage at the Robert Johnson Blues Museum or visit Chautauqua Park’s treetop trail for an unforgettable hike.
6. Iuka
Despite its tiny size, Iuka has a lot to offer. Not only is the small town is home to J.P. Coleman State Park and Mineral Springs Park, it isn’t far from the renowned Tishomingo State Park. The state’s tallest point, Woodall Mountain, can also be found in Iuka. It’s 806’ in height and features a path straight to the top, making for an easy hike. Like most small towns, Iuka boasts a delightful downtown, which is includes a variety of shops, eateries, and the "world’s only apron museum."
7. Amory
Offering access to the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway, Amory is the perfect place to unwind with a fishing pole in hand. It’s also a great place to satisfy your burger craving. The small town is home to Bill’s Hamburgers, an old school burger joint that gained national recognition when it was featured on Burger Land.
8. Raymond
Just a short drive from Jackson, Raymond is home to less than 2,000 people. The tiny town is known for its southern charm and the variety of historic sites that fill it, which include several antebellum buildings, a Confederate cemetery, and Raymond Military Park.
When visiting, consider taking Highway 18, which runs from Port Gibson to Raymond. The scenic route is under 50 miles and is made up of small, charming towns and picturesque sites. 10. Louisville
A charming town in Winston County, Louisville features a booming downtown filled with a variety of shops and restaurants. Lake Tiak-O’Khata is another highlight of the small town. The lakefront resort includes cabins, a restaurant, and beach. While in Louisville, dining at Mary Lou’s Biscuit Bar is a must. The hidden gem serves "down home country breakfasts," which include amazing biscuits.
