10. Fulton - Itawamba County School District
This school district, which is responsible for approximately 3,500 students, ranked 10th out of the districts surveyed. One school in the district, the Itawamba Agricultural High School, has been nationally recognized due to the school’s great student-teacher ratio and higher than average statewide algebra scores.
9. Tupelo - Tupelo Public School District
Not only does this district have a graduation rate of 80%, but over half of the students are on the Honor Roll. These wonderful statistics can be partially attributed to the faculty, 40% of whom hold advanced degrees in addition to several being honored with prestigious awards such as presidential teacher awards in math and science and Apple’s distinguished educator award.
8. Booneville - Booneville School District
In 2013, this school district received an "A" rating by the state of Mississippi - the highest academic ranking possible. This was quite an accomplishment since less than 20 districts received the same rating. The district’s accolades don’t stop there. In the same year, the Booneville School District ranked in the top 10 on nine of the statewide tests administered to schools throughout Mississippi.
7. Eupora - Webster County School District
Coming in 7th on the list, the Webster County School District is home to two high schools that have been nationally recognized for excellent scores on statewide tests - East Webster High School and Eupora High School. East Webster High’s great test scores also earned the school the status of "Star" school and a grade of an "A" by the Mississippi Department of Education – both of which are the highest education rankings awarded by the state.

Responsible for the education of almost 1,900 students, this school district includes a nationally recognized high school as well as a Career and Technical Center, which offers classes in eight occupational skill areas.
5. Pontotoc - Pontotoc City School District
Declaring "its people" the city’s finest asset, it should come as no surprise that Pontotoc puts a lot of effort into its educational system. In addition to top scores on state assessments, Pontotoc High School received the PREPS Value-Added Award for the 2013-2014 school year due to the students’ outstanding performance on the English II subject area test.
4. Petal - Petal School District
Made up of five schools, the Petal school district enrolls about 4,000 students each school year. Having achieved the highest rating (level 5) from the state every year since its establishment, this district has definitely earned bragging rights. And thanks to several federal and state grants, the school district can continually further improve educational programs offered to students.
3. Union - Union Public School District
With a motto like "Small in Size, BIG in Dreams," it’s obvious that this school district is committed to providing an excellent educational environment… and it hasn’t fallen short. In addition to receiving an "A" rating by the Mississippi Department of Education, the school also received the Beacon Award – an honor given only to those districts who meet the highest criteria of the Mississippi School Board Association.
2. Pass Christian - Pass Christian Public School District
Nationally recognized due to student's high levels of achievement, this school district has achieved a number of noteworthy accolades. Three of the district’s four schools have been recognized as No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon Schools by the U.S. Department of Education, the district has earned the highest academic performance rating, an "A," for five years in a row, and the Mississippi Department of Education has recognized the district for Outstanding Achievement and as an Exemplar for the Betterment of Education in all Schools Across the State of Mississippi.
1. Enterprise - Enterprise School District
Coming in at number one on this list, the Enterprise School District has been awarded a superior rating by the Mississippi State Department of Education. Furthermore, the district’s high school scored above average on both the English and Algebra tests required by the state, which may have something to do with the school’s enviable student-teacher ratio. Enterprise High School’s strong academic curriculum is accompanied by an array of extra-curricular activities, creating the perfect balance for students.
