It’s not easy to keep a restaurant open for a decade, let alone a century. But all across Minnesota, there are restaurants that do just that – or come pretty close. These longstanding spots have stood the test of time thanks to their delicious food, welcoming atmospheres, and great service. That’s certainly the case for Yarusso Bros., an Italian restaurant that has been in St. Paul since 1933. That makes it one of – if not the – oldest Italian restaurants in Minnesota. Here’s what you need to know:
Yarusso's is an authentic Italian restaurant in St. Paul, Minnesota. It's Minnesota's oldest family-owned Italian restaurant. And it just might be the longest-running Italian restaurant in the state!
The restaurant first opened as Square Deal Cafe in 1933. It was owned by Italian immigrant Francesco Yarusso, who arrived in the United States around the turn of the 20th century.
The restaurant has undergone some cosmetic changes over the years, but it is largely the same comfortable, family-style restaurant it was when it first opened. The welcoming staff will make you feel right at home.
Yarusso Bros. is open Monday-Thursday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday-Saturday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. For more information, check out their website and Facebook page. And if you love Italian food, don’t forget to check out our list of the best Italian restaurants in Minnesota.
