W.A. Frost and Company, in St. Paul, is an upscale Minnesota restaurant that still offers a full-service dining experience. Another thing that makes it unique is the dozens of original oil paintings that line the walls of its dining rooms, bar, and even stairwells. You must visit the restaurant and see all the fantastic artwork for yourself.
W.A. Frost and Company opened in 1975 in St. Paul’s Cathedral Hill neighborhood.
It’s housed in the historic Dacotah Building, which was built in 1889. The restaurant’s owners lovingly restored the Dacotah prior to opening. The restaurant, itself, is named for the pharmacy that used to occupy the Dacotah’s first floor. The building is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The restaurant was designed in a manner that pays homage to its historic roots.
To this end, the owners have decorated the walls of the restaurant with dozens of original paintings, lending the dining rooms a gallery-like atmosphere while recalling the great Summit Avenue homes at the turn of the 20th century.
Of course, W.A. Frost and Company is more than the art that adorns its walls. It is a locally-revered restaurant known for its inspired New American cuisine and award-winning wine list.
And W.A. Frost and Company is singular as a place to do so while surrounded by so many original paintings in an upscale Minnesota restaurant.
