Trent Jonas came to Minnesota to attend college - and never left. He's a Twin Cities-based writer with a BA in English and a MFA in creative writing, a Minnesota Master Naturalist, and the proud father of two adult children. With more than a decade of freelance writing experience under his belt, Trent is often out exploring his favorite topics: Minnesota's woods, lakes, and trails. Rhubarb pie is his weakness, so discovering new diners is also a passion.
There may be no better way to enjoy all the natural beauty of the Bold North during the colder months and the company of your favorite person (or people) than winter glamping in Minnesota. You get many of the benefits of camping and ditch a few of the downsides! One newer spot on the North Shore (opened in May 2023) is particularly worth checking out.
We tend to have quite a bit of winter here in Minnesota, and one of the best ways to get through it is to embrace it.
A Superior Hiking Trail spur passes right through the glampground and connects with the Cove Point Loop and the Gitchi Gami State Trail along the S7hore. This makes your site a perfect base camp for snowshoeing, winter hiking, fat biking, or cross-country skiing.
You'll find a map of the trail on AllTrails; and if you're venturing farther along the Superior Hiking Trail, you should probably download a map from AllTrails Plus for offline use, in case you end up out of service range.
I, for one, am pretty excited about the prospect of winter glamping in Minnesota at this awesome spot. For more information or to reserve your spot, visit North Shore Camping Co. on the web. If you don’t feel like cooking while glamping, don’t worry – you’ll find plenty of awesome restaurants up and down the Shore. And one of my favorites, Rustic Inn Cafe, is only a few minutes away from North Shore Camping Co.
