It seems like every few months, we discover a new-to-us train attraction in Minnesota. By now, we’ve uncovered train-themed restaurants, hotels, and stores. But that’s not all the Land of 10,000 Lakes has to offer when it comes to locomotives. Today we have another to add to the list. There’s a historic train depot in Wayzata that train enthusiasts of all ages will adore. Read on to learn about visiting Wayzata Depot:
The Wayzata Depot is a historic train depot that has been standing since 1906. Today, it is a museum maintained by the Wayzata Historical Society. Address: 402 East Lake Street, Wazyata, MN 55391.
The depot was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1981. Today, the depot is home to the Wayzata Historical Society Museum and Chamber of Commerce.
The depot's grounds have a beautiful garden. In the summer, the view of the lake combined with the lovely flowers - not to mention the model railway - is a real treat.
