Are you looking for a trip to the Caribbean without leaving Minnesota? Try paying a visit to one of the state’s most unique restaurants! Victor’s 1959 Cafe is a feast for the eyes and the stomach, serving up delicious Cuban food in a lively, island-inspired setting. It’s one of the Twin Cities’ most popular restaurants for a reason, and you’ll soon see why! Read on below to learn more about this fun and tasty restaurant:
Victor’s 1959 Cafe is a popular restaurant in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It’s housed in what used to be a 1920s gas station, later converted to a Dairy Queen. It opened as Victor’s 1959 in 1999, and it’s been a city ever since.
As soon as you spot the restaurant, you’ll know you’re in for something special. The bright blue building has a lively patio that is a great place to sit in the warmer months.
Inside, the entire restaurant is an explosion of color. Funky drawings and inscriptions decorate the walls, giving the dining room a fun, slightly ramshackle vibe perfectly befitting a Cuban restaurant. Guests are welcome to make their mark, too!
As for the food, Victor’s menu is full of Cuban favorites. This is a favorite breakfast spot for many, with many entrees featuring tropical flavors such as yuca and plantain.
If you’re in for lunch, you can’t go wrong with a Cuban sandwich. It features ham, pulled pork, Swiss cheese, mustard, and pickles on Cuban bread. Yum! Several other sandwiches feature on the menu as well, equally delicious.
Beyond sandwiches, there are many other great entree platters. The seafood paella is a classic, and Fricassee de Pollo - Cuban chicken stew - is sure to please. Truly, you cannot go wrong with anything you order.
Top your meal off with a tasty dessert. Flan is a popular choice that’ll take you straight to the island, as are the coconut ice cream and mojito sorbet.
