What’s better than eating delicious food? Eating delicious food in an amazing setting, of course. Minnesota has tons stand-out eateries, but Forepaugh’s Restaurant may just take the cake. Its setting, both inside and out, offer a perfect backdrop to enjoying the scrumptious food they serve up.
Nestled in an area of St. Paul known for its historic buildings, Forepaugh's Restaurant is special because it is located within a Victorian mansion built in 1870.
But that's not all. The restaurant overlooks Irvine Park, one of St. Paul's most scenic parks. The pretty gazebo, fountain, and gardens help make it one of the city's most popular wedding venues.
It also overlooks the historic Alexander Ramsey House, home of Minnesota's first governor. All in all, this old mansion-turned-restaurant will bring you closer to history.
Forepaugh's Restaurant features 11 dining areas, each as unique as the last. The front patio and porch are popular for those who love to dine al fresco. These options both provide a full view of the Ramsey House.
Another popular room is the Olson Room. Like every dining area in the restaurant, it features a beautiful fireplace. But the real showstopper is the gorgeous chandelier glinting on the ceiling.
The Marshall Room and the adjoining Sibley Room share cheery decorations - and a spooky history. This area of the Forepaugh House is rumored to be haunted.
A real knockout of a room is the Fitzgerald Room. Being the only room with a skylight in the entire mansion, eating there is a unique experience that will have you coming back again and again.
For an entirely different atmosphere, try the Wine Cellar. Outfitted with copper ceilings and the original limestone walls - not to mention an enormous wine collection - this area makes for an intimate dining experience.
But perhaps the best dining area in the whole restaurant is the rooftop terrace. Seated high above the ground, you'll have a breathtaking view of the St. Paul skyline, Irvine Park, and the Ramsey House - all at the same time.
But try not to be too stunned by the stunning views and historical finishes at Forepaugh's. Two menus offer mouthwatering choices for any palate. The downstairs menu features casual cuisine, like burgers or mac and cheese.
Regardless of where you eat in Forepaugh's, you'll have access to an extensive collection of beers, wines, and spirits. Combine this with the amazing ambiance, great views, and historic details, and Forepaugh's becomes one of the top restaurants in Minnesota.
Have you ever been to Forepaugh’s Restaurant? If you’re looking for another restaurant that looks amazing both inside and out, check out this gorgeous and remote restaurant in Minnesota.
