With as many spooky events as Minnesota has every year – we even have a haunted house at our state fair! – it should come as no surprise that there are more than a few creepy spots in our state. From the haunted bathroom at First Avenue to Forepaugh’s Restaurant in St. Paul, there are plenty of places that will send shivers down your spine. In fact, there’s even an entire town with a creepy past. Take a look:
From a distance, Mantorville, Minnesota, is a charming spot in southern Minnesota that would make a lovely day trip.
The Star Tribune reported in 2016 that, according to the author of "Haunted Mantorville: Trailing the Ghosts of Old Minnesota," Mantorville is the most haunted town in the Midwest per capita.
The Restoration House, dating back to 1856, has its share of haunted history. Once the Dodge County Courthouse, it may be home to a ghostly entity who once occupied the basement jail.
Remember how we said the Hubbell House is the oldest restaurant in Minnesota? It should come as no surprise that this spot, too, is full of spooky stories. Tragic deaths on the property have led to rumors of ghosts.
Have you ever been to Mantorville? Do you believe in its ghosts? Let us know in the comments below! And don’t forget to check out one of Minnesota’s other spooky towns, the Halloween Capital of the World.
