This year has not been easy. In fact, 2020 will likely go down as one of the worst. Between natural disasters, civil unrest, and the COVID-19 pandemic, there has not been much to smile about. But are still a few months left of the year. While it’s likely not possible to turn things around completely, we can still make the most of the time we have left of the summer. In St. Michael, Minnesota, the St. Michael Cinema is doing just that. This movie theater has been hosting a pop-up drive-in theater in its parking lot since July. It’s one of the most fun things you can do as the summer winds down. Here’s what you need to know:
St. Michael Cinema is a popular movie theater in St. Michael, Minnesota. It's about 30 miles northwest of Minneapolis along I-94, or 40 miles southeast of St. Cloud.
Unfortunately, the 2020 coronavirus pandemic has led the lobby to close. But the theater has come up with a great way to keep drawing in visitors. It has turned its parking lot into a drive-in movie theater, complete with concessions, bathrooms, and everything else you need.
A large movie screen has been erected against the building. Since July, many films have been displayed on it, from classics like The Goonies and Jurassic Park to brand-new titles like Bill and Ted Face the Music.
Visitors must book tickets in advance. Weekend showtimes are at 10 p.m., with the gates open around 8 p.m. Be sure to arrive early so you can make the most of the evening!
