Look For This Strange But Stunning Phenomenon In Minnesota This Winter
If you’re a fan of the North Shore (and who isn’t?) chances are you’ve heard of this arctic phenomenon before. On many Minnesota days you can find a beautiful layer of sea smoke hovering over the lake surface, and the occasional steam devil twirling about. It happens when the winter air is much colder than the surface of the water, and the heat is sucked out of the water and into the chilly air. It is always a beautiful sight to behold, the likes of which can’t be found in warmer climates. So while we might be freezing while we enjoy the view, we have the comfort of knowing we are experiencing something truly unique. Check out some of these amazing photos taken of Superior’s sea smoke!
