You might as well soak in some sunshine! One of the best ways of doing so is by taking a long hike or bike ride along in a scenic area. Luckily, Minnesota has many beautiful areas crisscrossed with easily accessible trails. In southern Minnesota, the Red Jacket Trail is one of the most popular. This lovely trail crosses an old railway bridge, and it’s a wonderful way to take in lovely views and great weather. Here’s what you need to know:
Red Jacket Trail is a beautiful, 6.3-mile path in Blue Earth County, Minnesota. It starts in Mankato and runs to nearby Rapidan. Many love stopping at the Rapidan Dam Store for a piece of pie!
This rail trail follows the same route as an old railroad that used to pass through the area. Most of the trail is paved in cement, making it a popular choice for hikers and bikers.
As the seasons change, the trail only gets more beautiful. The trees along the way change colors and drop their leaves, making the journey along the trail even more magical.
But it's not just trees and fields you'll find along the Red Jacket Trail. This rail trail crosses over the Le Sueur River on an old wooden railroad bridge.
The sight of the river from high above the water is truly spectacular. Surrounded by the lovely forests of southern Minnesota, with the sun beating down and the wind in your face, you won't want to be anywhere else!
