The Pincushion Mountain rises over the land near Grand Marais, Minnesota. There are many trails up to the mountain, each ranging from easy to difficult. The Pincushion Mountain Loop has a moderate difficulty rating, making it perfect for anyone who would like to get a workout as they take in the views.
The unpaved trail crosses through a beautiful stretch of land. It's around 4 miles in length and is often done as a loop, though many other trails can be accessed from it.
As you hike, you'll pass through bushy clearings as well as stands of tall trees. The thick forest is full of wildlife. If you keep your eyes peeled, you're likely to see some of the smaller species. But the larger bears, moose, and wolves that live in these woods are likely to stay hidden.
There's also plenty of plant life to discover. Not only is the mixed forest filled with different types of trees. But there are wildflowers, mosses, and many other organisms.
