Have you ever taken a trip along one of Minnesota’s scenic byways? There are many all across the state, and they take travelers along beautiful rivers, around sparkling lakes, and through prairies, forests, and even cities. There is a beautiful drive for people interested in just about every type of landscape. Today, we want to introduce one of our favorite scenic drives. It’s Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway, and it’s a beautiful 54-mile drive through Minnesota’s lake country. If that sounds good to you, read on below to learn more about what you’ll find along the way:
Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway is a 54-mile route through Minnesota's lake country. It winds around many lakes and passes through plenty of lovely small towns along the way. Those who follow this route will find plenty to do!
Much of the route passes through a forested landscape dotted with lakes. These are winding roads through rural Minnesota that are full of scenery throughout the year.
There are plenty of stops along the way where you can rest, stretch your legs, or even have a picnic lunch. If you prefer restaurant meals, the route passes through towns such as Pequot Lakes, Crosslake, Breezy Point, and more.
If you're a hiker, you'll be happy to find that there are plenty of trails where you can stop along the byway. For example, the Veterans Memorial Walking Trail will take you to see how the forest has grown after a 1958 fire. And that's just one example of the many trails you can explore!
There are even plenty of ways to enjoy the byway when the weather turns cold. Try snow tubing at Breezy Point Resort, snowshoeing along the trails, ice fishing, and more! There is plenty to do along the beautiful Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway.
