In keeping up with the newest restaurants, it’s easy to forget those that have been here all along. There are quite a few historic restaurants in Minnesota, restaurants that have beaten the odds and stood the test of time. One of them, Pracna on Main, is often considered the oldest restaurant in Minnesota. From its opening day to its closure and eventual reopening, this restaurant has a long and storied history.
Pracna on Main first opened on St. Anthony Main in 1890.
More recently, the restaurant abruptly closed for renovation in 2015, leaving some to wonder if it would ever return. Luckily, it came back later that year.
Despite the closures and renovations over the years, Pracna on Main has held on to its historic charm. The building itself is very old, and it's located on the historic cobblestone of St. Anthony Main.
Of course, the history isn't the only reason to go. The restaurant has always had a great menu. The latest version includes lighter fare such as sandwiches and salads.
