For those seeking the tranquility of a thick, remote forest, a trip to northern Minnesota may be in order. This region is full of state forests that not only offer respite from the busyness of everyday life. They’re also full of beauty, recreation, and even glimpses of wildlife. There’s one lodge in northern Minnesota where you can stay in the middle of a national forest, and we think anyone who loves nature will absolutely adore it.
The National Forest Lodge is located within the Superior National Forest in northern Minnesota. It's about 80 miles north of Duluth. The address is 9905 National Forest Lodge Road, Isabella, MN 55607.
When you arrive, the main lodge building will be a warm welcome thanks to its cozy cabin decor. The staff is friendly and helpful, and you'll get set up right away in one of their 22 cabins.
There are larger accommodations for those who crave a more luxurious stay. Four of the larger buildings sleep four to ten people and come equipped with a bathroom.
For those who don't mind a more simple experience, the camper cabins should suit you fine. They typically have just a bed, with access to a bathroom nearby. All cabins come with heat and electricity.
Inside, you'll find everything you need for your stay. Cabins with multiple bunks are great for those with big groups. Guests need to bring their own bedding for these spots.
Wherever you stay, it'll be secondary to the nature surrounding you. Superior National Forest has amazing cross-country ski trails, making National Forest Lodge a great destination for those who enjoy this wintery hobby.
What do you think? Would you stay in a National Forest Lodge camper cabin? For more information about this spot, check out the National Forest Lodge website and Facebook page.
