There is one in just about every corner of the state, and all are worth visiting. Today, however, we want to focus on just the most popular waterfalls in Minnesota. Gooseberry Falls is likely Minnesota’s #1 most popular waterfall. When you visit, it’s easy to understand why. This North Shore waterfall features multiple drops as it rushes over a rocky cliff towards Lake Superior. There are many vantage points to see the waterfall within Gooseberry Falls State Park, as well as hiking trails that offer other views along the river. No trip to the North Shore is complete without a stop here!

Thanks to its location in the middle of Minnesota’s largest city, it’s no wonder Minnehaha Falls is among the state’s most popular waterfalls. This Minneapolis waterfall is part of a large park that features hiking trails, grassy picnic areas, and even a restaurant. But the crown jewel is certainly the 53-foot-tall Minnehaha Falls. Hike down to the base to see it, or view it from above. No matter what you do, you’ll enjoy the beautiful sight and cooling mist from this Minneapolis treasure.

The High Falls of the Pigeon River is tucked away in Grand Portage State Park, on Minnesota’s border with Canada. While it is out of the way for most Minnesotans, it’s still among the most popular waterfalls. Why? Because this waterfall happens to be the tallest in Minnesota. It clocks in at an impressive 120 feet! Next time you’re looking for a true waterfall adventure, head up to the Canadian border for one of Minnesota’s most awe-inspiring sights.

While Minneopa Falls isn’t the tallest waterfall in Minnesota, it certainly is one of the most beautiful. This double waterfall first falls 10 feet over a low cliff at Minneopa State Park. It runs for a few more feet, then plunges 39 feet into a deep gorge. Adventurous hikers can follow the rugged path down to the gorge to see the base of the waterfall. But it’s equally picturesque to view the scene from above, on a long bridge across the gorge. It looks like something out of a fairytale!

Another of Minnesota’s tallest waterfalls, the High Falls of the Baptism River is a must-visit North Shore destination. It’s tucked away in Tettegouche State Park, where it cascades 70 feet over a rugged, tree-lined cliff. The turbulent waters below the waterfall announce its presence long before you step up to it, making this a feast for the senses. This popular waterfall - the tallest completely within Minnesota - is an absolute must-visit.

Minnesota’s southwestern corner doesn’t get a lot of attention. But many travel there to see one spot in particular: Winnewissa Falls at Pipestone National Monument. It’s a small waterfall - about 20 feet tall - but its surroundings are absolutely breathtaking. The waterfall tumbles over and is surrounded by unique pink quartzite. It’s unlike anything else in Minnesota, and it’s one of the most popular places in the region. Next time you’re craving. Minnesota adventure, plan a trip to this waterfall.
