Are you tired of justifying your home state to the rest of the country? We sure are! Minnesota definitely has some false stereotypes that need to stop. As a non-native Minnesotan, there were a million and one things that people told me to be afraid of, and a million jokes about why Minnesota is a terrible place to live. But here I am, in “Minne-so-cold”, and I love it. Here are the top 8 stereotypes that the rest of the country needs to forget.

1. It's always frigid.

It's like people somehow forget about half the year. Okay, a third of year. Regardless, MN summers are HOT!
2. We all have Fargo accents.

People somehow forget about the huge urban center that is the Twin Cities. Minneapolis is a huge cultural center and St. Paul hosts a lot of big business. Also, many Fortune 500s make their homes in the MN 'burbs.
7. All our men dress like this.

There might be a sliver of truth to this come winter, but people are just jealous. Who doesn't love the lumberjack type?
8. We are pretty much just Canada.
