Minneapolis is a large city with many vibrant and exciting neighborhoods. For those who live here, it’s all about location, location, location. Whether it’s the proximity to public transportation or the quality of schools, we know everyone is looking for something different. Luckily, we’ve done some of the research for you! Here are the seven most beautiful and charming neighborhoods in Minneapolis:
1. Kenwood
Kenwood is one of the most affluent neighborhoods in all of Minneapolis. It sits atop part of Lowry Hill and overlooks the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. This secluded, tree-lined neighborhood is full of spectacular homes and mansions, many dating back to the Victorian era. Former Vice President Walter Mondale lived in this neighborhood.
2. Uptown
Once you get past the hustle and bustle of Hennepin and Lyndale Avenues in Uptown, you'll find an incredibly beautiful neighborhood. Uptown is rather unique, and you have your choice between hipster and trendy places, as well as old classics. Much of Uptown is within a walkable distance to Minneapolis' Chain of Lakes, making it a perfect place for the active Minneapolitan.
3. Loring Park
The Loring Park district abuts, you guessed it, Loring Park. Many cool brownstones can be found within this neighborhood. Loring Park is one of the most excellent parks in the city, and it is also near some incredible restaurants, including Cafe Lurcat and 4Bells.
4. Whittier
Whittier and Eat Street hold a special place in many Minneapolitans' hearts. This neighborhood is home to the stunning Minneapolis Institute of Art, Washburn Fair Oaks Park, some of the tastiest restaurants in the city, and has some of the most beautiful Victorian mansions still standing, many of them in pristine condition. Whittier is culturally diverse and as vibrant as ever.
5. Linden Hills
The Linden Hills neighborhood has the feeling of small town charm, without having to leave the city. Located near Lake Harriet, the neighborhood has a variety of boutiques, restaurants, and even has its own trolley line! If you love being in close proximity to Uptown and the rest of Minneapolis, but want to live a slower paced life, Linden Hills is for you.
6. North Loop
North Loop is the trendiest neighborhood in Minneapolis. Formerly known as the Warehouse District, this old industrial area has been completely revamped and renovated. Abandoned warehouses were transformed into cool modern apartments, coffee shops, and restaurants, all of which add personality to what was once a less-than-charming area of the city.
7. Northeast
The Arts District of Northeast might just be the coolest part of Minneapolis. Northeast, as a whole, has always been an oddity and home to many blue collar workers in the city. Artists have flocked to the area to bring vibrancy and variety to the neighborhood, which now has plenty of excellent bars and restaurants to serve residents. Anything you could possibly want or dream of can probably be found in Northeast.
The gorgeous city of Minneapolis is home to some beautiful neighborhoods that deserve to be celebrated. Of course, we couldn’t cover all of Minneapolis’ best areas – that list would be a mile long!
