Here in Minnesota, there are plenty of nostalgic places to visit. To name a few, drive-in restaurants, drive-in theaters, and arcade bars all draw from past eras. Today, we want to add one more spot to the list.
Believe it or not, Minnesota is still home to a few video stores. One of the state’s last remaining video stores is in Robbinsdale, Minnesota. This huge store is not just a blast from the past, it’s also an excellent place to find great movies. They have more than 50,000 titles, and the stock keeps growing. Here’s what you need to know:
Video Universe is in an unassuming strip mall in Robbinsdale, Minnesota. You would never know by looking at it that this might just be the biggest movie collection in all of Minnesota.
The store first opened in 1985, long before the days of online streaming. The store held strong as formats changed from VHS to DVD to Blu-Ray. It stood up against major competitors and still did not bend.
In fact, as many of the competitors closed up shop, Video Universe began buying out their inventory. That helped it grow into the video megastore it is today.
