Minnesota has many great festivals throughout the year. From food to fishing to hot air balloons and beyond, you’re sure to find something that strikes your interest. One of Minnesota’s most beautiful festivals? The Lantern Lighting Festival at Como Park Zoo & Conservatory.

The Japanese Garden at Como Zoo is one of the most beautiful, peaceful parts of the park.

It only gets more magical in August, when the Lantern Lighting Festival takes place.

This festival is similar to the traditional Japanese festival of Obon, in which people light lanterns to guide spirits to and from their resting places.

The lantern festival at Como Zoo draws big crowds - for good reason.

There is a lot to see and do. Martial arts demonstrations are popular events.

You can watch performances of taiko drumming, bamboo flutes, and more at the garden's main stage.

There's also plenty of Japanese food to try.

Of course, the main event is the best part. When the sun sets, the lanterns will be lit and placed in the pond.
