With more than 10,000 lakes and 66 state parks, there are plenty of places for a day spent relaxing in Minnesota. Minnesotans are no strangers to fun outdoor activities and bustling nightlife. But where, you might ask, is the perfect place to relax? For many people, that place is Nisswa, Minnesota! Located in Crow Wing County, Nisswa, Minnesota has it all! With miles of shoreline and loads to do, you are sure to find a way to relax here.
For those who like to hike, bike or skate, the Paul Bunyan State Trail runs right through the heart of Nisswa. The trail is 119 miles in total length!
In the summer, anglers love to fish in the 400+ lakes encompassed within Crow Wing County. Crappie, bass, walleye and northern pike are all common in these waters.
If you’re into spending time on the water, but don’t want to fish—rent or bring a kayak, canoe or paddle board and explore the 7.5 square miles of water in Nisswa!
Another summertime favorite—camping—is a popular pastime of relaxers everywhere. With several campgrounds and RV parks in the area, you are sure to find something to fit your needs.
Also make sure you visit downtown Nisswa during your summertime visit. On Wednesdays, you will see the Nisswa Turtle Races, a longstanding tradition in the town. Bring a chair, though, as these races can sometimes last hours!
If resort living is more your lifestyle, Nisswa will not disappoint! The views from Quarterdeck Resort on beautiful Gull Lake will provide all the relaxing views you need—no matter the season!

If you enjoy winter activities, Nisswa will not disappoint! With over 1,200 miles of groomed snowmobile trails in the area, you are sure to find an adventure.
While you’re in the area this winter, why not hit the slopes at Mount Ski Gull? Mount Ski Gull offers a triple chair lift, towrope, lighted runs and 12 ski and snowboard runs.
If you enjoy gambling, take a drive to Norther Lights Casino or Grand Casino Mille Lacs, both located within an hour of Nisswa. Here you will find opportunities to gamble, eat, and experience some wonderful entertainment!
