With Minnesota’s reputation for having more than 10,000 crystal-clear lakes, it’s easy to forget that there’s a whole lot more to the state than water. Minnesota’s landscape covers prairies, bogs, forests, and more. The diverse landscape makes traveling through the state feel like an adventure, with some areas not even feeling like they’re part of the Gopher State. That effect is never more present than it is in Cascade River State Park. One hike through the park, and you’ll feel like you’ve landed in a jungle. Take a look:

Cascade River State Park is located in northern Minnesota. It's found right off of Highway 61 north of Lutsen.

The park is notable because the Cascade River flows through it on its journey to Lake Superior. The river - and the trails that surround it - offer beautiful nature views.

There are many paths through the park, each offering its own benefits. Many pass through on the Superior Hiking Trail, which cuts right through the park.

But don't worry if you're not ready to take on the SHT. From the main parking area, the trail to the cascades is only a mile or so round-trip. You'll pass through an incredible, lush forest.
